We’ve learned a lot about the dangers of NSAID painkillers in the last decade that many of us probably wish we had known sooner.
I know it would be have been useful information to me back when I popped Advil like candy to tame my ever present headaches and try to use them to ration out my limited supply of migraine medication.
Sold over the counter and prescribed in high doses without a blink of an eye, I assumed they were harmless! Nothing could be further from the truth…
What I wish I had known about NSAIDs:
NSAIDs like aspirin, ibuprofen or acetaminophen cause GI issues with chronic use (1,2) and even have a measurable impact on gut permeability with occasional use (3) . Just like antibiotics, regular use will change the makeup of our gut flora (4).
Leaky gut can lead to:
- Systemic inflammation
- Food sensitivities
- Gluten intolerance (5)
- Headaches
- Migraines
- Chronic Pain
- Seasonal allergies
In addition to NSAID painkillers, Leaky Gut is made worse by:
- Corticosteroids
- Antibiotics
- Stress
- Alcohol & smoking
- Pesticides from non-organic foods
- Pathogens
- Mycotoxins
- Artificial sweeteners
How can we reverse the damage?
Last week, Lori Groleau, Corporate Account Manager of Microbiome Labs, joined me to share her gut healing journey as well as a new Total Gut Restoration kit. Just released, it includes a research – backed trio to recondition, reinforce and rebuild your gut lining and a healthy microbial diversity.
You can watch our interview right here:
If you are struggling with severe gut issues, multiple food or chemical sensitivities, autoimmune disease or other chronic issues then I’d really encourage you to also work with an integrative practitioner to make sure that you get to the root of the issue and cover all of your bases.
Who is this trio perfect for?
If you are working to improve your health and want to show your gut some love, the Total Gut Restoration Kit from Microbiome Labs is a great place to start!
Especially if you know you have been exposed to painkillers, stress, antibiotics, pesticides over the years (who hasn’t??!).
Even with our best efforts, it can be hard to avoid all the day-to-day factors that can wear down our mucosal barrier and destroy the good bacteria in our bodies. I’m going to start the 3-month program myself as way to up my defenses and optimize my health and invite you to join me!
